Insurance & Fees FAQs

What insurance plans do you accept?

I am currently in the process of becoming in-network with Aetna and CareFirst. For the time being, I am considered an "out-of-network" provider. I predict I will become in-network with these companies in early 2026.

You accept my insurance, but I want to know what my copay will be per session.

Oasis Therapy Center will attempt to verify your insurance benefits before your first session and will let you know your copay. It is recommended you also call your insurance (call the number on the back of your insurance card), and ask them the copay for:
     CPT Code 90791 (intake)
CPT Code 90834 (45 min. session)
CPT Code 90837 (60 min. session)

Also ask:
1) How many sessions are covered by my plan? 2) What is the coverage amount per session? 3) What is my deductible? 4) Have I reached my deductible? If not, how much have I spent so far?

What is your therapy hourly rate per session?

My hourly rate depends on the particular service being provided. Therapy sessions cost between $180-$230 per therapy hour (if you are paying out of pocket).

Do you accept Medicare or Medicaid?

I am not a provider for either Medicare or Medicaid at this time.

What forms of payment do you accept?

I accept credit cards, debit cards, and flexible spending cards. I do not accept cash or checks given that I operate virtually. A valid debit/credit card is required to be on file to receive services.

Is there a cancellation policy?

I require 48 hours notice that you will not be able to make your appointment. I charge for late-cancellations. I also charge a fee if you don't show to your appointment and no notice was given to me beforehand.

You don't accept my insurance plan, how can I pay your hourly fee?

I get it! Therapy can be very expensive! I am happy to provide a superbill which you can submit to your insurance and they will then reimburse you. The full hourly fee is due at the time of service for out-of-network, but many individuals are able to be reimbursed between 50% and 70% of the total fee afterwards.
Before starting, it is recommended you contact your insurance company and inquire whether you have "out-of-network benefits" for mental health therapy to see if you can be reimbursed.

You take my insurance, and my plan covers therapy, but I still am being charged your full fee?

It is likely that you have not met your insurance deductible. This is an amount of money that you must pay out-of-pocket each year before your health care coverage kicks in. Contact your insurance plan to know what your deductible is and whether you have met it.

Therapy FAQs

Is therapy right for me?

Seeking out therapy is a personal choice. Therapy is for anyone who is interested in getting more out of their life, are committed to making a change in life, are ready for greater self-awareness and acceptance, and can commit to regular appointment attendance. The therapeutic process can be incredibly helpful for those seeking an open, judgment-free space, or need additional support during a stressful time in their life.
I believe that for therapy to be most effective, it is very important for you to be actively engaged, both during our sessions and between sessions.

What is your therapy style?

I would describe my therapeutic style as calm, caring, and thoughtful. I believe therapy benefits you best when we identify tangible goals, and work towards those goals during our sessions. I will encourage your engagement and active participation. I make an effort to tailor our work together around your particular situation and make it a point to ask for your feedback. I refrain from providing advice, and instead believe that everyone should come to their own conclusions for themselves with help and guidance. You are the captain of your voyage, my role is to help as your navigator.

What clinical issues do you see?

I specialize in helping those with generalized anxiety, ADHD, panic disorders, specific phobias, and insomnia. I am also trained in providing therapy to those who identify as ethnic and sexual minorities, such as African American or Black individuals, and gay or lesbian induviduals.

What does the starting process look like?

When you reach out, we will set up an initial consultation. This is a free, 15-30 minute phone meeting where I will briefly collect your contact information and we will talk about what is currently going on for you. After this, and we agree that I may be a good fit for you, we schedule our first therapy appointment. Therapy will be done over telehealth. The first appointment is for 60 minutes, while each one after will be 45-50 minutes. Our first 3 appointments will be me collecting some more information, as well as us developing a treatment plan together. Think of it like us testing the waters before diving in! We will reach an agreement after these 3 sessions as to whether we are a good fit for one another.

Is therapy confidential?

I take the issue of confidentiality very seriously. It is crucial that our relationship is built on trust and transparency. Everything that we talk about together stays between us and I will do everything in my power to protect your information. No information is disclosed without written authorization from you. There are instances where I would need to break confidentiality, however, that include: 1) if you intend harm to yourself, 2) if you threaten serious bodily harm to another individual, or 3) if you reveal, or I suspect, child abuse or elderly abuse. All therapists must adhere to these confidentiality exceptions. These guidelines are all explained in further detail when we talk together. You may also review my Privacy Policy by clicking here.

Do you provide therapy to children, or group therapy, or family therapy?

All therapy is in an individual format. I give therapy to adults only (+18 years old). Group therapy may be offered in the future. If you are interested in a particular group topic, reach out to let me know!
